PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT

Palliative Care is a process for providing holistic care to patients suffering from life limiting diseases and for alleviating their sufferings through suitable and timely interventions. Apart from its medical component, palliative care is a community responsibility that seeks to address the various psycho-social and spiritual problems faced by chronically ill, dying and bed-ridden patients and to render them dignity in life and death. In association with the technical fest “Pravaah”, the unit was able to raise Rs4000 by selling fancy items like bangles, rings, chains etc made by the bedridden patients in IPM (Institute of Palliative Medicine). Thus Palliative care unit could familiarize the students with ‘FOOT PRINTS’ (association of bedridden patients). The students took part in ‘Because I Care’ programme and collected Rs10,4135 for cancer patients in Calicut district.
